Description
I am told that this particular instrument was made in Budapest, but the instrument concept originated in India. I had the guy repeat the name many times, but I had to look it up to know what it was called. He calls it a 'cymbalom'. It is apparently similar to a hammered dulcimer, but chorded, and it would take a musician some time to learn to switch. My co-worker (the first guy to talk) asked him to play something slow. He was playing something more along the lines of the Turkish March meets ...
